[Currently inspired by |"Sepsis" by Otep]

It's cold outside, and I'm not wearing my heavy winter coat. I feel like an ass as I'm shivering on the outside platform, waiting on the worst train in the transit system to show up. But then again, it's only 45 degrees outside; it'll shoot up to about 80 later on, and then I can feel like a complete fool for wearing three layers of clothing.

From "Cold Slap".

I am completely alone in my room and ready to settle in. I have my book, my blanket and my bedside reading lamp all set up for me to sit down and have a little peace and quiet, my brand new iPod is set to my very favorite play list, and best of all, Ash is out of the room. Of course, as soon as I am quite comfortable, Ash comes stumbling in.

Dawn broke over the docks as workers swept scales and other silvery fish-pieces into the water. The giant fishhooks, now freshly cleaned, hung in tight rows along the walls of the brown worksheds and shone bright and metallic in the pink morning. The soapy water of a mop splashed the wooden planks and slipped back and forth along the shipyard under a steady arm, and everywhere the sounds of seagulls, and of people calling to each other, hard at work, mingled in the air.

You do not know the depths of my consciousness. The sinking feeling as my floating thoughts get darker and darker. There is a grimy feel to my depths: a stickiness that won't leave and builds as i go deeper.

Bored, picking at her fingernails, she speaks, "So yeah, I called him after the test results were in, you know, just to let him know that I was positive and all, right?"
With rabid curiosity, a tinny voices demands, "And how did he take it?"
Suddenly vindictively lively, she smiles nastily and continues, "Well, he was a whiny bitch and worried that now he wouldn't be able to go to summer camp and hook up with all the girls there, which was totally not the right thing because hello, I'm the one who's positive and all, and you know, he is my ex and not theirs, so don't I have a right to make his life hell just like he did to me for an entire fucking year?"

I love him and I want to trust him, I do, but I don't wanna be that girl. The girl who ignored and reasoned away all the signs only to learn it changed nothing. The girl with the cheating boyfriend and the broken heart.

We flipped through outdated issues of Vogue together when it was raining. We were crazy then, thinking we could be beautiful. Beauty never came to us, only motherhood, stretch marks and dust bunnies that stuck to everything.

"You made Reagan pretty mad when you up and left us after nearly three years. We thought we'd have to scrap the Spacewheel project without you on board. But as you can see, we found your boy, and we got him to see how important it was that he help us finish what you started."
